Read payment reports

Use Dashboard → Advanced statistics for publication summaries over a selected period. The Your overview selector controls the period, comparison and grouping; the displayed metric cards depend on the publication's Dashboard settings. If this area or a card is missing, confirm its configuration and your access with the publication owner.

Set the period before reading a card

  1. Confirm the publication and open Dashboard.
  2. Find its Your overview selector and choose a preset period or a custom date range. The selector allows dates through yesterday.
  3. Choose the comparison period, or no comparison, and the day, week, month or year grouping.
  4. On a money card, select the currency you intend to read. Compare the same card and currency across periods.

The selected dates are sent as calendar dates. These are stored daily summaries, so a newly changed transaction or membership may not yet be reflected. Do not assume a chart is an instant payment feed or that its dates establish the provider's settlement timezone.

Understand the three core measures

CardWhat it summarizesImportant limit
Gross volumeSuccessful live transactions for this publication, less their recorded refund amounts, kept separately by currency. The headline adds the selected period's series. Before processing fees; not net payout, bank balance or settlement.
MRRA recurring-revenue estimate based on subscription prices and qualifying renewing, nontrial memberships in the Dashboard's configured Paid subscriptions set. The headline uses the final grouped value.“Paid” here is a selected subscription set, not a successful-payment check. It is not cash received or a forecast of collections.
Active subscribersDistinct reader IDs matching the configured paid, nontrial membership records at each daily snapshot. It is not a count of all unique readers during the period or proof of current, unexpired access.

Keep other Dashboard revenue tiles separate: they use different calculations. Do not assume they can be reconciled with these cards or used to combine currencies.

Read Gross volume with its dates and currency

Gross volume groups transactions by their creation date. Recorded refunds reduce the original transaction's date in the stored summary; this is not a report of cash refunded on the refund date. Multiple eligible transactions for one reader are multiple amounts, not one customer.

For a fictional City Journal example, assume the selected USD snapshot contains only one eligible successful live transaction: 1,000 cents recorded as its amount and 200 cents already recorded as refunded.

1,000 − 200 = 800 cents, or USD 8 before fees.

This illustrates the stored summary only; it does not establish that a refund was delivered. Do not add a EUR transaction to this USD total. The card's currency selector keeps them separate; it does not convert exchange rates.

Money card headlines round to whole major currency units. Smaller differences can therefore disappear from the headline; inspect the underlying transaction for its detailed displayed amount.

Use MRR as a qualified estimate

MRR uses configured subscription prices for top-level memberships that have renewal enabled, permit subscription renewal and are not trials. It does not check successful charges, and its membership selection does not explicitly exclude expired end dates. Do not use it as proof of unexpired entitlements or future payments.

The calculation normalizes subscription periods to daily price amounts, rounds that daily estimate upward, then combines days and applies a display factor for the selected grouping. Changing day/week/month/year grouping or using a partial bucket can change the estimate. Keep grouping consistent when comparing periods; this is not a grouping-independent monthly accounting total.

Use Active subscribers as a snapshot measure

This count uses both current and historical membership records for the configured paid subscription set, excluding trials. It counts each matching reader ID once per daily snapshot. Current records are included by creation date without an explicit expiry check; historical records use their recorded start and history dates.

For week, month or year grouping, each bucket shows its highest daily count. The headline uses the final bucket, rather than adding buckets or counting unique readers across the entire period. For a specific reader's current state, read their membership and check the applicable content-access decision separately.
