Before you set up your publication

Before changing settings, make sure you know which publication you are working on, what its readers should be able to access and who is handling the integration.

Prepare these four things

1. Confirm the publication

Check the publication/resource name shown in the Admin header. It should be the publication you intend to work on. Its content, subscriptions and configuration belong to that resource.

Write down the publication's name and website address so the people working on setup are referring to the same site.

2. Confirm your Admin access

Use the Admin account intended for your work on the publication. A reader's account identifies someone in the audience; it is separate from the account used to work in Wallkit Admin. Creating a reader record does not give that reader Admin access.

Confirm with the person who manages Wallkit for your publication that your Admin access is appropriate for the task. Do this before changing settings or asking someone else to complete a restricted task.

3. Describe what readers should access

List the content you want to make available and how readers should get access. For example, City Journal could make short news updates available to all readers and reserve its reporting for readers with a subscription.

Keep the content-access goal separate from the monthly or annual subscription choice. Bring both to the person responsible for the publication's Plans and access rules. Wallkit at a glance explains the relationships.

4. Identify the integration owner

Agree who will connect Wallkit to your website and who will make the publication's setup decisions. Tell the integration owner which website or CMS you use and the content-access goal you have agreed on.

That person can use Developer Central for code and API implementation. Everyday Admin work belongs in the Knowledge Base; the two kinds of work need to fit together.

If you cannot find your publication or a control

If you cannot find your publication or a control you need, ask the person who manages Wallkit for your publication to confirm your Admin access and that you are working in the right publication.

Wait for that confirmation before making setup changes in another publication.

Your next step

You are ready to discuss setup when you can name the publication, confirm your Admin access, describe the intended content access and identify the integration owner.

Use Find your way around Wallkit to locate the Admin area for your next task, or return to Getting started.
