Find and understand a transaction
Use Transactions to locate a reader's payment record and inspect what Wallkit recorded. Start with the correct publication and Admin access to its transactions.
Find the record
- Confirm the selected publication, then open Transactions.
- Narrow the list with the reader's first name, last name or email. Amount and date-range filters can help you distinguish similar records.
- Select Show only successful transactions if you want records whose status is exactly succeeded.
- Compare the reader, Amount and Date & time, then click the record's # to open its information view.
For fictional City Journal reader Alex Rivera, use alex.rivera@example.com and the expected date window to find a USD 10 payment record. An internal transaction number identifies the Wallkit record; it is separate from any provider transaction identifier.
The list follows the publication's configured live or test payment mode. A missing record can therefore reflect the publication, mode or filters you are viewing. Confirm these with the publication owner before assuming no payment record exists.
Read the useful fields
The information view displays the returned record and related purchase information. The fields available depend on the payment path.
| Field or indication | How to read it |
|---|---|
| # / internal ID | Identifies this Wallkit transaction. Use it to distinguish records for the same reader. |
| Amount and currency | The recorded transaction amount in its stated currency. Money displays convert stored minor units to major units; 1,000 USD cents displays as USD 10. |
| Date & time | The transaction's recorded creation time, not a promised bank settlement date. |
| Status | The list's check indicates exactly succeeded. Without a check, inspect the detailed status; the list does not explain every other state. |
| Provider identifier, payment system or error information, when present | Helps identify the payment path and its recorded response. It does not independently confirm a bank deposit. |
| Recorded refund amount, when present | A value recorded against the transaction. Inspect it separately from the original amount; it is not proof that money has reached the reader. |
| Purchases and receipt information, when present | Describes linked items or payment documents. It is separate from the reader's current membership and article access. |
Do not interpret a displayed zero in Price or Processing fees as proof of a free purchase or fee-free payment: those list values can be absent from the supplied record. Likewise, a VAT or discount field is not a complete explanation of the purchase's pricing or tax treatment.
Investigate a surprising record
Confirm the publication, reader, currency, creation date and detailed status first. Inspect any supplied provider/error information and linked purchases. If the amount differs from what you expected, look for recorded refunds and the supplied purchase or receipt details rather than assuming the list's Amount is a net payout.
Then find the reader and read their membership. A successful transaction does not guarantee that every membership update completed or that the reader currently has access to a particular article. An unchecked transaction does not, by itself, prove unpaid or failed access.
Treat the footer cautiously
The Total amount footer uses successful live transactions minus recorded refunds. It does not separate currencies, can differ from the list's selected mode/status, and some joined filters can repeat amounts in its calculation. Do not use it to reconcile the visible rows or a bank payout. For a currency-specific summary, use Read payment reports.
