Configure and review predictive paywall
Publishers can configure Predictive Paywall from the start through their existing Wallkit setup. Use an account authorized to edit the publication's Plans and applicable settings. Identify the intended audience and content scope before changing a rule that existing readers use.
Prepare the content and Plan context
Confirm the publication, Plan and intended content access rule. Inspect the relevant content IDs and current Categories, Tags and Authors using Content. These classifications can select rules and contribute related-content activity signals.
Check the existing content/access integration and its recording coverage with the integration owner when needed. Predictive Paywall uses that existing integration; no additional predictive installation is required.
Configure the intended rule
- Open the intended Plan and locate Access rules.
- Identify the rule and selected content classification or content type it should affect.
- For an allowed rule, use its Predictive paywall switch and Paywall percentage control.
- Choose the target for eligible requests, using the percentage explanation.
- Review the scope and existing reader-access implications, then Save and reopen the Plan to inspect its saved configuration.
The rule's Limit and Predictive paywall controls are alternatives in this form. Full access to all content and the Plan-wide Activate predictive paywall on all content control also affect which rule controls are shown. The Plan-wide control has a broader scope than one selected rule; confirm that scope before using it.
Check the publication's retained-access setting when reviewing previously unlocked articles. The retained-access explanation covers its effect on those articles.
Understand adjustable formula variables
In the publication's Predictive paywall settings, the weight fields control the relative influence of content, taxonomy and visitor signals. Use Find your publication settings for the publication-settings context.
The available fields cover content and taxonomy conversion/signup activity, transaction and lifetime-value history, recent visitor activity and prior paywall outcomes. A change adjusts their relative influence alongside the available inputs and the wider policy.
Record the intended purpose and current configuration before adjusting weights. Keep the rule's percentage target distinct from these relative signal weights.
Review behavior and make a useful handoff
Start with the publication, Plan/rule, content ID and URL, reader or guest-session context, and observation time. Check the percentage target, classifications and retained-article setting before comparing outcomes.
Content activity reports provide recorded activity context. Compare that context with the saved settings and the result seen on the website.
If behavior remains unexpected, give the integration or support owner the intended rule, relevant settings and expected versus observed outcome. Ask them to inspect the access decision and website presentation. Decision-history access depends on role and interface availability, so the owner may need to inspect it for you.
Use the needed reader reference through your authorized process, and keep credentials and private reader records out of a general brief. For financial totals, use Read payment reports.
