Add subscriptions to a Plan
Add subscription choices under a Plan so readers can choose a period and price for the same content access. City Journal's monthly and annual subscriptions both belong to City Journal Reporting.
These are fictional setup values, not recommended prices.
Before you begin
Create the Plan and agree its content access rules. Confirm the publication shown in the Admin header. Keep the Plan inactive while preparing these choices.
Add the monthly subscription
- Open the plans area between Groups and Tickets & Events. Open City Journal Reporting using its ID in the list.
- In the subscription choices box beside the Plan details, select Add.
- Enter the settings below. Select the currency beside the Price input.
| Setting | Monthly example | Annual example |
|---|---|---|
| Title | City Journal Monthly | City Journal Annual |
| Type | Standard | Standard |
| Price | 10 | 100 |
| Currency | USD | USD |
| Period | 1 month | 1 year |
| Active | Yes | Yes |
| Public | Yes | Yes |
Enter the amount in the selected currency: 10 means 10 USD in this example. The period describes the subscription's duration. These fields alone do not tell you whether renewal is automatic or how payment is collected.
- Select Save in the subscription dialog. The subscription appears in the Plan editor.
- Select Save at the bottom of the outer Plan page. The dialog's Save adds the choice to the editor; this second Save persists it with the Plan.
Add the annual subscription
Use Add again and enter the annual values from the table. Save the dialog, then save the outer Plan page.
Leave renewal, trial, tax and other advanced settings for a separately agreed setup. The monthly and annual periods do not configure those behaviors by themselves.
Check both saved subscriptions
Return to the plans list and reopen City Journal Reporting. Confirm that both subscriptions are present with the intended title, amount, currency, period and Active/Public settings. Check the saved values after reopening, not just the choices visible immediately after closing the dialog.
Active and Public settings on both the Plan and its subscriptions matter for normal public listings. The Plan remains inactive during this preparation; subscription settings alone do not make it available. Resolve a save error or unexpected amount before making the Plan available.
What you have configured
You now have two subscription choices under one Plan. You have not assigned either one to a reader. A reader's membership is separate from the configured subscription choice.
Before making the Plan available, confirm its rules and settings with your integration owner. The website still needs the appropriate integration for readers to obtain subscriptions and receive content access. Return to Plans, subscriptions and access rules.
