Understand publication settings
Read these options in the context of the selected publication. Agree any change with the person responsible for the publication and its website integration.
Use Find your publication settings to locate the groups below. The options shown can depend on the publication's configuration; a missing control does not mean the setting is off.
Publication identity and invitation destination
These fields are in General → General info.
| Setting | What it means | What to agree |
|---|---|---|
| Publication name — text field | The publication's name in Wallkit. | Use the name your team recognizes, such as City Journal. |
| URL — website address field | The website address recorded for the publication. Wallkit Admin can also use it when building a default invitation destination. | Confirm the intended site with the integration owner. |
| Invitation landing URL — text field | The destination template Admin uses to build invitation links. It substitutes the invitation code into that template. Admin can display a default destination based on the publication URL when no separate destination is stored. | Ask the integration owner to confirm that the destination handles invitations on your website. |
The name and URL describe the publication in Wallkit. Website installation still requires the integration owner's work. An invitation destination also needs the corresponding behavior on your site.
Default and guest access choices
These selectors are in General → Subscription settings. Although the labels say Plan, the choices are subscriptions grouped under their Plans. Make sure you recognize both the Plan and the subscription selected.
| Setting | What it means | What to agree |
|---|---|---|
| Default plan — subscription selector | Identifies the subscription used for default membership assignment on supported new-reader paths. An invitation's subscription or team context can affect whether that default is used. | Agree which default membership fits new readers. Inspect a particular reader's membership separately when needed. |
| Plan for guest users — subscription selector | Identifies a subscription whose Plan can supply guest access in the publication's guest-session flow. The reader and article still go through the applicable access checks. | Agree which content guests should be able to read, then align the selected Plan's rules with that goal. |
For City Journal, the team might agree that guests can read short news updates while subscribed readers can read reporting. The chosen subscriptions and their Plan rules need to match that decision.
A default membership choice is not a promise to replace every existing reader's membership. A guest choice does not make every article public. Use content access rules to understand how Plans select content, and Read a reader's membership for an individual reader.
Sessions when a reader logs out
Clear session data on logout is a checkbox in Other → Advanced settings.
When this option is enabled and a reader logs out through Wallkit, Wallkit removes that reader's other sessions for the same publication. The current session is made inactive as part of logout.
Agree the intended behavior with the integration owner, especially if readers use more than one device. This description covers Wallkit sessions for that publication; signing out of an external identity provider or removing browser storage requires the website's own handling.
Discuss a change with the owner
Read the values shown for your publication rather than assuming a universal default. Some settings can be supplied or locked by the publication's configuration, and subscription choices need available Plans.
Before a change, agree the intended reader experience and how the integration owner will confirm it. These descriptions do not promise that a saved change immediately updates every existing reader or session.
