Prepare an event and its tickets

Use Tickets & Events to configure a gathering and its ticket options. You need permission to edit the selected publication's events. Confirm that ticketing is enabled and that an integration owner is responsible for the website's purchase and attendee flows.

For a fictional City Journal reader evening, prepare the venue, intended timezone, event times and ticket conditions before entering the form. Record setup does not create a public event page or install checkout.

Save the event details

  1. Confirm the publication and open Tickets & Events.
  2. Click Add new event. Enter Event title and Slug, then the relevant description and image.
  3. Choose Venue or Virtual under Type and enter Location info. Supply the intended registration page, URL and contact email where relevant.
  4. Select Timezone, Event start date and Event end date. Confirm the Active setting you intend to save.
  5. Click the event form's Save, then inspect the saved event and its #.

Automatic timezone conversion is not established by these controls; confirm the intended times with your integration owner. The event's start/end times are separate from the ticket sales window. Do not assume a date means “through the end of that day.”

Add a ticket option

  1. In the event's Tickets area, click Add to open Add new ticket.
  2. Enter its Title, description, Price and currency.
  3. Enter a positive Quantity and the intended Quantity range for an order. For example, City Journal can configure 50 passes with a maximum of two per order; that does not establish a venue attendance count.
  4. Set Ticket sales start and Ticket sales end, then review the ticket's Status and Public settings.
  5. Click Save in the ticket modal. This stages the ticket in the event form; it does not finish saving the ticket record.
  6. Click the event form's Save, then reopen the event and inspect the returned ticket and its ID.

The event and ticket records are saved through separate requests. A redirect or saved event alone does not confirm that every ticket request completed.

Before offering tickets, reopen the saved event and review the displayed ticket price and currency. Ask your integration owner to confirm that the saved amount matches the price your purchase flow will use.

Read availability carefully

Use a positive Quantity; the current availability calculation treats zero as no available tickets. Remaining availability is the configured quantity minus all issued pass records, floored at zero. It is not a count of unique attendees, activated invitations or scanned entries.

The configured purchase path checks the event and ticket's active state, event end time, ticket sales window, order quantity and remaining availability. An active/public listing alone is not confirmation that a purchase can complete.

Optional VAT, subscription assignment, discounts and Mailchimp settings have their own conditions. Configure them only with the publication owner; a saved option does not prove a subscription update or delivered message.

Hand off to the website owner

Provide the saved event and ticket IDs, intended times, currency and agreed ticket conditions. The integration owner connects discovery, purchase, recipient assignment and activation to the publication's website. Confirm that experience separately from Admin record setup.
